A Turkish multi-instrumentalist, Umut Adan is among the leading contemporary successors to the psychedelic Anatolian rock tradition pioneered by legends such as Erkin Koray. His work brings the genre’s unmistakable sound to international audiences while giving it a distinctly modern edge.
At Colours of Ostrava, Umut Adan will present his new band Zebâniss, formed together with Italian musicians Andrea Marazzi, Michele Busson and Filippo Gillon. Together, they explore the concept of “danceable dissent”, combining Turkish psychedelia with Latin American cumbia rhythms and a spirit of social protest. Their analogue recordings are rich in guitar-driven textures and create an atmosphere that genuinely transports listeners back to the 1970s. Their latest album, Başka Bahar (2026), is a transnational project created between Turin, Istanbul and Brussels, offering a unique, poetic and intensely personal response to the world we live in today.
