Their concerts are built on deep connection – between the band members themselves and with the audience. Those who have witnessed their shows often speak of feeling opened up and transported elsewhere, into a state of tension and freedom that recalls the spirit of the 1960s and the energy of festivals from that era. For the band, this is no coincidence, but the result of full commitment and strong mutual trust. With Slovak roots, Tolstoys have in recent years been living and creating in Berlin, where their psychedelic rock blends with Slavic and Celtic influences, strong rhythms, and a magical, almost ritual atmosphere.
Tolstoys have spent the past years on an extensive concert journey across European stages, including repeated appearances at the Glastonbury Festival. They have released four studio albums, with last year’s The Buzz focused on capturing raw live energy on record and further strengthening the band’s collective approach to creation. As they recently summed up their philosophy in a single sentence: keep it simple. It is on stage where Tolstoys make the most sense today – and that is exactly where we will experience their music ourselves this summer in Ostrava.
