The story of voice and healing

20:30 – 21:30 Vypravěčský stan

Ganna feels incredibly honored and humbled to be invited to the storytelling tent and is excited to share how discovering her roots in Ukrainian folklore and traditional song helps her embrace her identity and create space for learning and healing. Since Ukraine’s independence in 1991, the challenge has been to peel back all the layers of colonial propaganda and make visible again those stories that help to grasp the complexity of cultural identity and heritage.

Ukrainian cultural heritage has survived hundreds of years of colonial oppression. From generation to generation, people have managed to preserve the knowledge of traditional songs, instruments and rituals rooted in ancient times.

Ganna’s way of connecting with her heritage is through folk music. She has traveled to different regions, interviewed folk singers and visited music archives. Each song contains layers of wisdom and knowledge about how people lived together, how they were connected to nature and what beliefs were important to them. Some of these stories may be outdated, but others are timeless.

Ganna is happy to spread these stories and share her path to healing through music.
