Sofia’s journey into music began with attending her first concert by Manu Chao. A few years later, she met her musical hero through a sample in her track Estación Esperanza, where she recontextualizes a classic hit with the mantra ¿Qué horas son, mi corazón?. The connection between Sofia and her work also extends to her personal life. While living in Berlin, she chose to honor neurosurgeon Peter Vajkoczy, who treated her ill mother, with her music.
Although Sofia initially dreamed of making films during her university years, she found that visual storytelling wasn’t as close to her heart. Instead, she began translating her scripts into audio tracks, leading to the creation of her unique sound. Through this process, Sofia demonstrates that even in dance music and club settings, everyday stories and emotions can truly flourish. One of her early tracks, Home Is Where I Can Dance, perfectly captures the feelings and themes she explores in her work.
