The term “supergroup” is often overused, but in the case of this mysterious yet spectacular Bratislava-based collective, it fits remarkably well. Its members come from bands and projects such as La3no Cubano, Space Cats, Erik Šulc & Tribal Colours, Isobutane and Kriss Krimm. They describe their music with the tongue-in-cheek label “postvirtual lo-fi secondwave hyperpop”, but their sound also draws from jazz-rock, breakbeats and vaporwave. Quite possibly the best Slovak band you haven’t heard yet.
Quatro Emocione emerged in the previous decade, with their first recordings dating back to 2020. The project was founded by renowned bassist Miloš BulĂk, who, like the other members, is involved in numerous Slovak musical projects. With everyone juggling multiple creative commitments, Quatro Emocione’s concerts and releases are far less frequent than they deserve to be, making their appearance in Ostrava all the more special. Their latest release, aptly titled NestĂham (2025), continues to expand their distinctive sound, blending a wide range of influences with unusual Japanese-inspired melodic lines created using a Vocaloid instrument operated by pianist and virtuoso KristĂna Smetanová.
