Preserving the Wisdom of the Ancestors

16:30 – 17:30 Vypravěčský stan

The Brazilian Indigenous tribe Huni Kuin has had to face many challenges over the centuries, including colonization and conflict. Despite this, they have managed to preserve their traditional culture, language, wisdom, and sacred songs. This has been possible largely thanks to their deep relationship with nature, the use of natural medicines, and the elders who continue to guard and pass down their knowledge from generation to generation.

According to one of the Huni Kuin legends, we are currently living in a very important time. It is a new cycle, during which it is vital for the teachings of Indigenous cultures to become more widely known in the outside world and for cultures to begin learning from one another. In their songs and stories, a bridge is formed between many worlds. This is one of the reasons why they have chosen to speak publicly here today.

During the talk, they will touch on topics such as their traditional cosmology and the challenges related to cultural appropriation. Together, we will seek to better understand the wisdom of the Huni Kuin and take a piece of it into our daily lives.
