Petra Trnková

Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, and Head of a Medical Physics Research Group.

Her work focuses on interdisciplinary applied research in radiation oncology. Alongside her scientific activities, she is actively involved in improving research environments, supporting doctoral candidates and early-career researchers, and fostering conditions that enable scientific excellence.

She earned her engineering degree in Radiological Physics from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering in 2007 and completed her Ph.D. at the Medical University of Vienna in 2010. Throughout her career, she has worked at leading research institutions, including the Paul Scherrer Institute, Harvard Medical School, HollandPTC, and the Medical University of Vienna, combining research with clinical practice.

Her research focuses on developing methods that improve the precision and effectiveness of both conventional and proton radiotherapy.

Since 2025, she has served on the Physics Committee of ESTRO (the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology) and is an active member of the European Particle Therapy Network and the Upright Consortium. Since 2024, she has also been an Associate Editor of the journal Medical Physics and a member of the Editorial Board of Physics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology.
