Mgr. Petr Horálek is the Czech representative to the International Dark-Sky Association, the first Czech Photo Ambassador of the European Southern Observatory, and the author of several photography books. His images have repeatedly been selected as ESO’s Picture of the Week, NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day, and Czech Astrophotograph of the Month. In recognition of his international achievements in astrophotography, asteroid 6822 Horálek was named in his honour. At Silesian University, he works at the Institute of Physics, focusing on science communication and public outreach.
