Petr Hauschwitz

A physicist at the Czech Academy of Sciences specialising in laser technologies.

He is fascinated by modifying the surface properties of materials and often draws inspiration from nature. One example is the lotus leaf, whose unique micro- and nanostructure repels water and keeps the surface clean. Similar structures can be applied to materials such as aerospace-grade aluminium alloys. His research focuses on making laser micro-machining faster and more efficient. His team holds two world records, both set in 2021, for productivity and the number of beams used in nano-machining.

A devoted fan of the TV show Rick and Morty.
