Nina Kohout

Nina Kohout, a Slovak musician based in the UK, has been recognized as an exceptional talent since at least 2017, when she caught attention with her song Gejša, which she composed and recorded with the band Fallgrapp.

Fans of her electropop-jazz project Autumnist knew her well at the time, but she soon established herself as a solo artist. In 2020, she debuted with the single Blue Sunray, earning the title of Newcomer of the Year at the Radio_Head Awards in Slovakia. Her 2022 single Moonlight became Song of the Day on the US radio station KEXP and foreshadowed the release of her debut EP Pandemonium. Last autumn, she repeated this success with her single Little Butterfly, which was premiered on BBC Radio 6 Music.

This brings us to her October album, Gentle Autopsy, which was nominated for the prestigious Slovak music awards in the categories of Debut and Album of the Year. The album also earned the title of Album of the Month from Full Moon magazine, praised for its unique combination of dark electronics, pop melodies, classical elements, and regional folklore. “I love making music that makes me lose track of time. While creating the album, I had moments where I felt very strongly inside that I was doing exactly what I should be doing, and it made perfect sense to me. What could be more fulfilling?” the artist shared on Hudba.sk. And to that, we’ll answer: seeing and hearing her live.
