Her scientific journey began with the study of chemistry at Novosibirsk State University. She came to the Czech Republic for her doctoral studies to gain international research experience and explore new opportunities. She joined the group of Michal Hocek at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, focusing on bioorganic and medicinal chemistry of nucleic acids. There, she deepened her expertise in organic synthesis while moving closer to the study of biological molecules.
As she was completing her Ph.D., she realised she was increasingly drawn to biology and fundamental research. She found both in Klára Hlouchová’s Laboratory of Synthetic Biology at Charles University. Her main focus is the Protocell project, which investigates the evolution of the ribosome and has been selected as one of the Czech scientific projects that will travel to the International Space Station with a Czech astronaut.
