NAČEVA

Full Moon stage

Through a dark day — with a singular companion. A singular woman.

Thirty years ago, under the production of Jan P. Muchow and in collaboration with writer Jáchym Topol, the album Nebe je rudý was born. This year, it is being released on vinyl for the first time, accompanied by a special tour. As a distinctive vocalist, Monika Načeva had already defined her voice on her debut Možnosti tu sou (1994). Since then, she has released a series of albums that her listeners consider essential, formative and timeless. The list of collaborators she has worked with over three decades is equally remarkable: alongside the aforementioned names and the indispensable Michal Pavlíček, it includes DJ Five, British experimental composer Tim Wright, singer-songwriter Justin Lavash, the Pavel Bořkovec Quartet, visual artist Josef Bolf, and powerful vocal collaborations with Iva Bittová and Lenka Dusilová.

At Colours of Ostrava, she will present her current program, created with a band she describes in her own words: “After thirty years, I’ve once again found musicians with whom I could build a strong group.” Vojtěch Procházka (keys, guitars), Michal Jarmil Koval (bass) and Zdeněk “Regal” Jurčík (drums) collaborated with her on the latest album Jdem temným dnem (2024), which ranked highly in year-end critics’ lists across multiple media outlets.
