Moře dní

Moře dní

What do the TV series, Twin Peaks and the band Buty have in common? Allegedly, you can hear that connection in the music of Moře dní. Martin “Marcyn” Hampel has been a fixture on the Ostrava music scene for quite some time. Some of you may remember the band Places, which took their indie rock beyond Czech borders. But after the first lockdown in 2020, Marcyn began composing his own music, this time in Czech…

Originally a one-man project, it began to take shape when he teamed up with Lukáš Lukáš for the mixing of his tracks. The debut EP, featuring the song Vlasy na sebe, didn’t take long to appear, and soon after, live performance offers started rolling in.

What initially began without grand ambitions quickly evolved into a full-fledged band with a distinctive sound, skillfully blending catchy pop melodies with post-punk riffs. Alongside infectious tunes that walk the fine line between alternative music and broader appeal, the band’s poetry is a standout feature. Their lyrics capture the simple ease of existence — when trucks are driven by millions of people, when the radio plays what feels right, and when mistakes happen to everybody and at every age. This is exactly how it sounds on their 2023 self-titled album Moře dní. We can’t wait to sit down with Moře dní, let them speak their truth, and say, “Hey, guys.” But in reverse, just to add that Lynchian touch.
