During his diplomatic career, he worked on the Middle East peace process, in South America, and in the field of corporate finance. He represented the United Kingdom twice in missions of the European Union, also served diplomatically in Brazil and Croatia, and between 2018 and 2022 was the British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Matt Field has served as Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Czech Republic since 2023, where he became widely known through the campaign #JsemTuNovej. Before joining the British diplomatic service, he worked for Oxfam and as a teacher. He studied Religious Studies, earned an MBA, and also holds a master’s degree in Japanese Studies. In his free time, he enjoys films, playing bass guitar, sports, and snowboarding.
