Although based in London with a British father, he was born in Nice and grew up on Bali, and his hair hints at a mix of French and Italian roots. He tends to write songs spontaneously, either with a guitar in hand or at the piano, and usually comes up with themes and stories as he goes along. That’s why his lyrics are often difficult to pin down â the true meaning is elusive, even to him. But one thing is certain: heâs always confident in the songâs rightness. If he wasnât, it wouldnât make it past the cutting-room floor.
Matt-Felix draws inspiration from French legends like Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Higelin, whom his mother introduced him to. Songs like Lay Low or 1917 echo the sound of the 60s and 70s, but youâll also hear influences from contemporary artists like Harry Styles, Alex Turner, and Noel Gallagher. With his band backing him, heâs set to deliver top-notch British-style songwriting at DolnĂ VĂtkovice, as hinted by his singles and his debut EP Kingdom Of You & Me. Weâre also looking forward to new material coming this year. Buckle up because with Matt-Felix, an adventurous journey to the Moon awaits!
