Martin leads the heavy-ion group at the ATLAS experiment at CERN, where he investigates the state of matter that existed shortly after the Big Bang. He is also passionate about science communication.
He is currently based at Charles University in Prague, where he earned his PhD in particle physics. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of Illinois and Columbia University in New York. Martin has organised astronomy schools and regularly lectures both students and the general public. Together with a group of friends, he founded the “Science to Go” initiative, which aims to popularise a wide range of scientific topics through short, engaging talks.
