Since 2006, he has lived in Pardubice. As an author, he often works at the intersection of speculative fiction and contemporary social themes. He has published a number of books, including the environmental crime novel Tesla noir (2020) and the magical novel Meziměsta (2024), which explores autism and the power of storytelling.
Lukáš Vavrečka co-edited the anthology of mystery and speculative fiction Hlubiny města (2023) with Kristýna Sněgoňová and, together with Klára Smolíková, wrote the popular non-fiction book about audiobooks Nečtu! Poslouchám (2022). He is also an audiobook columnist and has served on the Audiobook of the Year Award jury since 2019. His novel Meziměsta was nominated for the Litera for Fantasy award as part of the Magnesia Litera 2025 literary prizes.
