She is also interested in how diet affects the metabolism of birds and how birds respond to volatile compounds released by plants. Her fieldwork has taken her to various parts of the world, including Japan, China, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and Malaysia. What attracts her most to science is its creativity and freedom. If she were not a scientist, she would be a mountain guide.

An ecologist at the Czech Academy of Sciences, she studies relationships between insect-eating predators and invertebrates. Her research explores, for example, how trees respond when different insectivorous predators, such as birds or bats, are removed from their environment.
