To support his research, he has taken part in more than 15 scientific expeditions to the tropics, many of which he organised and led himself. During these journeys, he discovered previously unknown species and genera of rodents. The results of his work help protect some of the most biodiverse places on Earth and provide important insights for predicting epidemiological risks.
