His stories combine suspense, a strong atmosphere, and the distinctive setting of the Moravian-Silesian region. He graduated from VŠB, works as a quality manager in a multinational company, and often writes while travelling across Europe. He made his debut with the novel Pět ročních období, followed by Papírové domky, Zapomenutá, and the acclaimed crime novel Černý kos, which won the Magnesia Litera Award for Detective Fiction.
Jiří Klečka was born in Ostrava and now lives with his family in the Beskydy Mountains. He continues to return to his hometown in his books, believing it hides many stories that have yet to be told. Alongside his writing, he is also a speaker at the Atmosféra Ostrava project, which brings together inspiring storytelling, music, and powerful life themes.
