He teaches at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague. From 2019 to 2024, he served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to NATO. Between 2015 and 2019, he was Deputy Minister of Defence, responsible for leading the Defence Policy and Strategy Division.
He has also worked as an adviser to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In addition, he served as Executive Director of Aspen Institute Central Europe and worked for Forum 2000 and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
