“We decided to portray this paradoxical position of a young person in an apocalyptic love story, contrasting the themes of passionate intoxication with the crushing fleetingness of life,” said lead singer Matyáš Adámek, describing the story of two lovers navigating a world ravaged by war and climate crisis.
The song and its video were created as part of the winning entry in the Radio Wave Czeching competition (2023), which also led the band to perform at the renowned Eurosonic festival in the Netherlands. Originally a solo project by Adámek, Island Mint took on new dimensions after the release of the Hazy Days EP (2020) when members from bands like Branko’s Bridge, Caldera Band, Cold Meat Party, and The Blue Igloo joined. On their debut album Irreality (2022), the band presented a euphonic mix of sunshine pop and ’60s garage rock, with touches of psychedelia and shoegaze. “Perfectly and stellarly in sync, Island Mint with their polished indie guitars delivered a feeling of surprise and surreal, beautiful essence,” wrote Full Moon about their live performance last year. At Colours of Ostrava, they will also debut new material set for release this autumn.
