Prior to his current appointment, he served for 7 years as the Vice-Rector for Cooperation. In that capacity, he focused on cultivating strategic alliances and enhancing the University’s connections with industry, the public sector, and international institutions.
He currently leads the REFRESH project, the largest initiative in the history of VSB-TUO and a flagship of the Czech Republic’s Operational Programme for Just Transition. With a budget exceeding CZK 2.6 billion, the project is dedicated to establishing a modern innovation ecosystem and supporting the transformation of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
Additionally, he leads the U!REKA SHIFT project, which has elevated VSB-TUO to the group of institutions participating in the European Universities initiative – a distinction held by fewer than 10% of universities across the EU. He has focused on geoinformatics throughout his career and has been based at the Department of Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Mining and Geology at VSB-TUO for over 15 years.
