editor-in-chief of Respekt weekly and political commentator

Since January 2009, he has served as editor-in-chief of the Czech weekly Respekt. He began collaborating with the magazine in 1997 and became a staff editor two years later. His work focuses primarily on political commentary and public affairs.

In 2003, he received the Novinářská křepelka award for journalists under 33 for his commentary work. This was followed by the Ferdinand Peroutka Award, the Czech Journalistic Award, and in 2025 also the Karel Havlíček Borovský Award and another Czech Journalistic Award for commentary.

He is the author of the books Vládneme, nerušit, Hledá se prezident, and Opuštěná společnost, which won the Magnesia Litera Book of the Year award. A documentary film based on Vládneme, nerušit received the Trilobit Award. In 2024, he published a book-length interview with Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová.
