Cyril Matějka, also known as “Cyril Děckař”, graduated from the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University. Alongside his medical studies, he spent ten years working in theatre environments — from Dobeška to Broadway and Hybernia — as a lighting technician, where he developed a love for improvisation, humour, and working with audiences.
After completing his paediatrics certification, he gained experience across hospitals and emergency medicine, later adding a specialisation in neonatology and currently preparing for a certification in paediatric neurology. He has long pointed out the overload of children’s emergency care and the need for better education for parents. His social media content grew directly out of everyday medical practice — first through satirical memes, later through short educational videos now followed by hundreds of thousands of people.
With humour, perspective, and accessible language, he explains common mistakes in childcare, breaks down myths surrounding paediatric medicine, and helps parents navigate children’s healthcare without unnecessary fear or confusion.
