Chief Bromden

Chief Bromden

“Inventive, unorthodox compositions and instrumental passages that are thrilling and masterfully played,” succinctly states Seattle’s The Elite Extremophile blog about the Czech band Chief Bromden. In local terms, we might say that it is chaotic but elegant.

This could be a simple way to describe the band’s music, which blends noise-rock structures with empathetic melodies, wild yet intricate rhythms, and a lively energy that sometimes earns them the label “Czech answer to The Mars Volta.”

Chief Bromden made a strong impression with their debut album Slunovrat, released under the Full Moon Forum label, as well as their follow-up EP Noise Forever, with a vinyl version released by one of the most prominent Czech independent labels, Korobushka Records. Full Moon believed in them again for their latest release, In/Tense Logic (2024), and it’s easy to see why. As Headliner magazine put it: “The precise instrumentation, which has become standard for Chief Bromden, is worth noting, along with an excellent sound that truly reaches international quality. I won’t go into detail about each of the nine strong tracks on the album, but suffice it to say, they are indeed powerful, and the lighter, more accessible moments are the most enjoyable. It’s clear these tracks will blow your mind live.” Even someone unfamiliar with their music will appreciate their concerts—they’re intense, unpredictable, and unmistakably unique.
