Do you know terms like doomscrolling, cheap dopamine, or information overload?
Brain We Are have long focused on how the human brain functions in today’s world full of stimuli, pressure, and instant gratification. They explain in a clear and accessible way what happens to our attention, motivation, and behavior – and how this shapes everyday life.
Behind the project are friends Vojtěch Hlaváček and Kryštof Jarmar, biologists from the Faculty of Science at Charles University, who founded the Brain We Are podcast in 2018. Today, it is the most listened-to educational podcast in the Czech Republic. Alongside the podcast, they also give lectures and have published the book The World of Cheap Dopamine, which describes how easily accessible rewards affect our brains – and how to work with this in everyday life.
At Meltingpot, they will open up questions of focus, inner motivation, and quality of life in a world that constantly distracts us.
