She has spent several years in African rainforests among gorillas and chimpanzees. And while tracking down their faeces, she has seen quite a lot. Her research focuses on intestinal parasites and bacteria found in humans and other primates. She studies the transmission of pathogens between animals and humans and their impact on health, biodiversity conservation and ecosystems.
