baníček, ale, ale, ale – Divadlo Petra Bezruče

Vítkovice Gong stage

An original production by Divadlo Petra Bezruče draws on the Ostrava football phenomenon and opens up the theme of fandom. The piece confronts the game on stage with the game on the pitch. How close are the passion of the stadium and the emotions of theatre? Is the greater thrill theatrical catharsis, or a victory over Sparta? Audience is audience, emotion is emotion. Football is the city, and the city is us.

But everything has its limits. Theatre and football alike. What if, though, we could chant terrace anthems in the theatre? Will a blue-and-white catharsis arrive? Grab your jersey or scarf and head to Gong to shout out some Ostrava haiku.
