AUDREY NUNA

A demon hunter with a singular creative vision

Two different worlds, two approaches – and yet so much in common. Audrey Nuna’s career so far could be divided into two distinct phases. Raised in New Jersey as an American with strong Korean roots, she spent years unsure of where she truly belonged. It wasn’t until adulthood, after moving to New York, that she broke free from suburban stereotypes and began to “discover” both the world and herself. After a period of cover versions that caught the attention of her future producer, she moved on to original material. Those early tracks were created far from ideal studio conditions, but in 2020 came the first singles and a breakthrough, supported by collaborations with rappers Saba and Jack Harlow.

Audrey Nuna released her debut a liquid breakfast as a collection of earlier recordings, but it was the double album TRENCH, released two years ago, that fully introduced her self-defined sound. Last year, her voice entered a completely different, almost fairytale-like universe – the animated film K-pop: Demon Hunters became a global hit shortly after its release. The story, visuals, the fusion of Asian and Western culture and a strong musical backbone all played a crucial role, with Audrey lending her voice to one of the central characters of the trio HUNTR/X, the singer Mira. And somewhere in between it all remains the sense that some dreams come true precisely when you stop waiting for them – and that the next chapter of this journey is about to unfold at Colours.
