Fifteen years of gigging in clubs and chasing a dream before their first UK No. 1 album. And then they did it again! It sounds like winning the lottery, but behind this story is a whole lot of hard work and determination. They reached the top of the UK Albums Chart for the first time in 2023 with Anxiety Replacement Therapy, followed by a second No. 1 in 2025 with KOKO. Sometimes, luck just isn’t enough. You have to work pretty hard to meet it halfway.
The Lottery Winners are about more than just catchy indie rock songs. Frontman Thom Rylance draws on personal experiences, exploring themes such as anxiety, ADHD and self-discovery. Music helps him process his emotions, and he sees songwriting as a form of therapy. Their album KOKO, short for Keep On Keeping On, reflects the idea that it’s worth pushing forward even when things don’t go to plan. And did you know Thom is friends with Robbie Williams, who’s also playing Colours? Quite a nice coincidence, don’t you think?
