Sometimes a DJ presses play and the set simply moves on. Here, it works differently. Loops are layered right in front of you, the voice becomes another instrument, and the set gradually builds depending on where it is played and how people respond. At times it can feel almost meditative; moments later it turns into a danceable groove. Nothing is strictly planned – just music unfolding in the present moment.
NOTE P (Note Panayanggool) is a Thai DJ, producer and performer who blends electronic music with traditional instruments and her own voice. She has performed at festivals across Asia, at New York’s The Lot Radio, and at events for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Nike. Her debut album Metamorphogenesis shows how she approaches music – less as a collection of fixed tracks and more as an environment to move through. The same thinking extends beyond the club scene, where she connects music with environmental initiatives. And because her sets respond to their surroundings, the industrial setting of the DolnĂ VĂtkovice blast furnaces might create an atmosphere that could hardly exist anywhere else.
