Michal Salát

Michal studied Computer Science at the Czech Technical University in Prague, spending a year at Texas Tech University in the USA. He has been doing systems administration and programming as a freelancer since high school, and after his second year at university he joined Avast (now Gen) as a malware analyst. His interest in malware research led him to establish and lead the threat analysis team.

He also briefly led Avast’s Texas office, which focused on IoT security. In his current position as Director of Threat Research at Gen Threat Labs, he leads a team of experts that primarily focuses on identifying and analysing new types of malware and threats targeting users of Gen products.
