His journey to the top of the charts began in 2016 when his first singles were released under the MIKE ROFT label. The singer with Moldovan roots made his mark on the wider consciousness around 2020 when he released his debut, Svědomí. A year later, even audiences who hadn’t heard of Calin were talking about him. Thanks to a cover version of The Nedved Brothers’ Deception, which was featured in the audience-pleasing cinematic hit Shoky & Morthy: The Last Great Event.
But Popstar was not born until two years later, when the album of the same name stayed at the top of the best-selling albums chart for several weeks. With the hit Hannah Montana came success on TikTok, and with Prague/Vienna, Calin peeked into the club of Spotify’s most played artists. But the real boom came with Victor Sheen and the drop of their collaborative album ROADTRIP. The unexpected release and record sales resulted in a sold-out O2 arena in the autumn of 2023, followed a year later by a ninety percent sold-out autumn tour for Bieber’s current album, Fever. A packed club is something to behold, but an open-air show for tens of thousands of people offers a very different experience. One of the few shows in 2025 and the only concert of the summer season in the Moravian-Silesian region.
