Music as a journey, a form of discovery, and a way of transforming experience into something beautiful. American musician and producer Michael Alfred Wagner, known as Biomigrant, travelled across Central America by bicycle before arriving in Colombia, where he began developing his distinctive musical world, blending electronic sounds, live instruments, traditional Latin American rhythms, and field recordings.
Biomigrant works with voice, flute, trumpet, ocarinas, and the Colombian gaita, using music to explore the relationship between place, memory, and emotion. He has performed at festivals and venues across the Americas and Europe and collaborated with a range of leading artists from the worlds of electronic and global music. Alongside his performances, he is involved in sound art, workshops, and film scoring. In 2024, he took part in a unique documentary project in Colombia’s Chocó region, helping create a live concert between local singers and humpback whales using a system of underwater microphones and speakers.
