Ostrava-born singer and songwriter Barbara Kanyzová is less interested in fitting into genres than in moving between them. Blending soul, R&B, pop, jazz, and folk, she draws more from experience than labels, from performing in Berlin clubs to spending a year busking on the streets of her hometown, Ostrava. Those experiences have shaped music that feels equally at home in intimate settings and larger productions.
Barbara has also made a strong mark on the Czech music scene as part of the duo Krhut & Kozub and through appearances with the comedy group Tři Tygři. In 2021, she released her debut album Vzpomněnky, followed by the viral track Rybí salát, featured in the film Jackpot. Alongside her Czech-language work, she has returned to writing and performing in English, most recently with the single Starry Night. At Colours of Ostrava, she will present a selection of songs that showcase her powerful voice and her natural ability to bring together diverse musical influences.
