We know you’re coming to Colours for unforgettable, intense experiences—and trust us, there will be plenty this year! 🤩 But even the most seasoned festival-goer can sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all.
Crowds, noise, a whirlwind of emotions… How do you process so many sensations all at once?
It’s important to remember—you’re not alone. 👐 Whenever you need support, you can visit our Mental Health tent right here on the festival site. There, experienced professionals from the charity organisation ADRA will be ready to help. Whether you need crisis intervention, emotional support, or simply a quiet moment away from the noise and crowds, this is your safe space.
Where can I find the Mental Health tent?
To make it easy for you to find your safe space, we’ve placed the Mental Health tent right by the main entrance, between the Information point and First Aid.
How to prevent feeling overwhelmed?
Before you head to Colours
💬 Talk openly beforehand about your feelings or any worries with people you trust.
🫁 Practise a calming breathing technique: breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 2, breathe out for 5, hold for 2. Repeat until you feel more relaxed.
📲 Save this number: 116 123 — the free, 24/7 mental health helpline.
👂 If you’re sensitive to noise, bring earplugs (you can also pick some up at the Mental Health tent).
During Colours
👀 Take some time to explore the festival site and find quiet spots where you can catch your breath throughout the day. We also recommend visiting the Mental Health tent—you’ll find it by the main entrance.
🤝 Agree on meeting points with your friends in case you get separated or if someone isn’t feeling well. It’s also a good idea to have a group chat to share your locations, photos, and funny moments during the day. If your phone runs out of battery, don’t worry—there are plenty of charging stations around the site, so you’ll be back online in no time.
🔋 Staying for all four days? Brilliant! We suggest easing into it gently to avoid running out of energy on day one.
🫶 Be kind to yourself. Pay attention to how you’re feeling and adjust your plans accordingly. Colours offers a packed programme, but even Superman couldn’t catch everything.
🍽️ Plan your day with regular breaks for food, plenty of water, and rest. Carry a refillable water bottle to top up at any of the drinking fountains around the site.
🍺 We know you know this, but we’ll say it anyway — drink responsibly and take breaks between drinks.
💥 Avoid arguments and heavy conversations, especially if you’ve had a few drinks. It’s easier to sort things out with a clear head.
⛺ Plan your journey back to your accommodation in advance, so you’re not worrying about it when your feet are worn out after dancing all day.
🚶 Remember, it’s perfectly okay to leave whenever you want. Just let your friends know so they don’t worry about you.
What to do if you suddenly don’t feel well
You can also find these steps on an information card available at the Mental Health tent.
- Start by taking deep breaths: breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 2, breathe out for 5, hold for 2. Repeat as needed.
- Focus on the “here and now.” Count things around you, look for objects of the same colour, tense and relax your muscles.
- Move away from the crowd and noise. Find a quiet spot or visit the Mental Health tent by the main entrance.
- Have a drink of water and sit down.
- If you don’t feel like talking to anyone in person, call the free Mental Health Helpline on 116 123.
- Don’t hesitate to approach staff in purple T-shirts anywhere on site, or come to the Mental Health tent.
- If something truly traumatic has happened, remember we’re on your side at the Mental Health tent and here to help.
❤️ This project was made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of ADRA, IKEA, AVION, and BESTCONT. Thank you!
