Genuinely important names don’t come to substitute for others. They create a completely new space, a place nobody had previously thought about, and yet, we would later find it inconceivable that it once didn’t exist. Rosalía breaks new ground when we are still recovering from the impact caused by her debut album. Flamenco singer and pop star. Integral artist, both scenically and creatively. Dancer and singer. Songwriter and producer. Gifted with an extraordinary voice and creator of a sound of her own.

A superb artist. She attracts the most diverse local and international figures such as Diplo, Charlie xcx, Gorillaz, Alejandro Sanz, Pablo Alborán, Juanes, Emily Ratajkowski, Billie Eilish, Nina Pastori, Diego El Cigala, Karol G, Lele Pons, Mr. Eazi, Pablo López and even the Kardashians. She has recently worked with two giants from North and South America: Pharrell Williams (content not released yet) and J. Balvin (whose song ‘Brillo’, written and performed with Rosalía, is among the best-selling songs).
By the end of May, she took a major step by releasing the single “Malamente”. Since then, the ‘Rosalía phenomenon’ has continually churned up new big surprises: shortly upon release, the song —racking up millions of streams so far—was Double Platinum-certified in Spain and Gold-certified in US Latin.

“Malamente” was just the "omen" of what was to come. Last November, a few days following the release of her sophomore album El Mal Querer, Rosalía and “Malamente” won two Latin Grammy Awards (Best Alternative Song and Best Fusion/Urban Performance). Also, the song hit #3 on Pitchfork’s Top 100 chart and the video was picked as “Video of the Year” by the same magazine.

Her album El Mal Querer, released on November 2nd, has not only been #1 on the sales and streaming charts —and Gold-certified— in the first week upon release in Spain, but it has also become the most listened to album on Spotify Spain in the first 24 hours and in its first week. In addition to being a sales phenomenon, El Mal Querer is one of the best albums of the year according to the international press: Sixth best album of the year for the NY Times and KCRW, best Latin album according to NPR in the U.S. and Noisey / Vice... These are just a few examples of El Mal Querer's overwhelming popularity among the world's leading musical media. “Di Mi Nombre”, the last song released before the album, reached #1 on the Spanish singles chart. Rosalía thus became the first Spanish artist to have a triple #1 during the same week on the album sales chart, album streaming charts and singles sales chart.

Rosalía is the first Latin singer to be included in the list of ten nominees for the prestigious BBC Sound of 2019 (A list made by British critics and artists, aiming to anticipate who will be next year's best artist). It is only a sign that the 2019 success is on its way. A year in which Rosalía has already been confirmed as headliner at one of the main European festivals (Primavera Sound, Barcelona, June 1st), and one of the big names for some of the biggest Latin American festivals such as Ceremonia (Mexico) and Lollapalooza (Argentina and Chile).

Her big-screen debut will be in no less than Almodóvar's next film, 'Dolor y gloria', in a scene with Penélope Cruz.
