Founder of Napszyklat, one-of-a-kind hip-hop outfit on the Polish scene, the rapper Robert Piernikowski is now materialising his ideas through his Syny project for which he has teamed up with the beatmaker going by the namer 1988.
His vision of uncompromising, breakthrough rap with a gloomy edge is still going strong, to the point that the terms ‘avant-garde’ or ‘experimental’ are almost superfluous. “When music transcends genres or floats on the boundaries of two categories, it’s hard for people on those specific scenes to accept it. I think that our last album helped to break down quite a few of those barriers,” Piernikowski reveals.
