The twenty-one string kora is a symbol of West African music though it is both enjoyed and revered throughout Africa.
Upon meeting the greatest living kora player Toumani Diabate from Mali, Joel Sebunjo fell for the lute bridge harp; and it didn’t take long for him to master the instrument. He then came up with the idea of making his own version using a cubic box as opposed to dried gourds, rendering a futuristic look and sound to the kora.
