Arleta

Czech Republic

Rap, uncompromising and fragile. Don't they go together? For the fourth year in a row, the Prague rapper Arleta has been making everyone believe that. She's been a revelation on the male-dominated rap scene. And the voice of a guilty conscience. On her first EP Ability to Damage Plant from 2020, she showed that she was not going to conform to the established rules of the genre in message or style. In her lyrics, she dismantles toxic masculinity to its primal core with a cheekiness all her own, bringing feminist themes, distinctive explicitness and a healthy dose of anger to the rap game. All dressed up in a fittingly dark garb.

Last year, she released her most extensive six-track record to date, Star Stable, where she explores the lure of capitalism, horsemanship and horses alongside her signature themes. It's hard to find a similarly unique set of themes anywhere else in Czech rap. He also has a good number of collaborations to his credit, both on the production side with names like mdmx or Fvck_Kvlt, and on the feat side with Hugo Toxxx or Rohony. Recently, Arleta cut a collaboration with Ed Son, first on his album Project 2023, only to expand that collaboration earlier this year with the track Free, a pointed middle finger to all homophobes. Showing it together with Arleta to all the misogyny will be pretty damn tempting at the Full Moon stag.
