At first glance, the festival stages may look the same year after year. In reality, however, their technical setup is constantly evolving. Every year, the Colours technical team introduces new technologies and improvements that take the concert experience to the next level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt first glance, the stages seem to look the same, but a lot changes every year. Every year, we try to come up with something new or improve the system. We have a fantastic team of people who make a living doing this and work on it all year round. Not only on the Czech scene, but on the international scene as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work of the technical team is also appreciated by international production crews that come to Colours with world-famous artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of the time, when the headliner arrives, we\u2019ve built their stage overnight. We meet on the stage, chat for a while, then walk to the front, and their sound engineer takes one look at the setup and says it\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to Pepa \u017den\u00ed\u0161ek, it\u2019s not just the equipment that gets praised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey praise not only the equipment itself, but also the work of the technicians we have here. They\u2019re all professionals, they do a great job, they enjoy what they do, and I think that\u2019s the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\n What\u2019s new this year?<\/strong>\n <\/h2>\n <\/header>\n\n
\n One of this year\u2019s additions to the Main Stage is a new L-Acoustics subwoofer system. Its purpose isn\u2019t just to deliver more power, but above all to direct low frequencies more precisely into the audience area in front of the stage.\n <\/div>\n \n\n <\/article>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThose large speaker cabinets behind the main system are subwoofers. Bass frequencies naturally spread in almost every direction, but that\u2019s not what we want here because we don\u2019t want to disturb the surrounding area. We want to distribute the sound exactly where it belongs. That means to our visitors standing in front of the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The result is better sound quality even for visitors who aren\u2019t standing right in front of the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cThis is another technological innovation that moves things forward a little. The way it directs the sound and delivers its power helps us reach people better and carry those bass frequencies even further into the back of the audience area. That means you get a full, rich sound even when you\u2019re far from the stage. It also helps spread people more evenly across the space. If you\u2019re into dance music, for example, you don\u2019t have to stand right in front of the stage. You can enjoy the experience just as much from 60, 70 or even 80 metres away. That\u2019s great because it\u2019s more comfortable for visitors and provides better coverage of the overall experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Why do technicians call it the \u201cbanana\u201d? \ud83c\udf4c<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the interview, the conversation also turned to a term that most visitors have probably never heard before. The \u201cbanana\u201d is the nickname technicians use for the curved line-array speaker system suspended above the Main Stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
