Slots in the programme of one of Europe\u2019s most prestigious festivals are limited every year. If you enjoy a challenge and create your own music in Poland or Slovakia, you once again have the chance to become part of Colours of Ostrava.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 23rd edition of the festival, most performers have already been announced, including American acts Twenty One Pilots, Moby and LP. Teddy Swims and Lorde will perform in the Czech Republic for the first time. Asian culture will be represented by Atarashii Gakko! and Audrey Nuna, while British rock will be brought by The Libertines and Skunk Anansie. The line-up also features Polish artists such as Daltonists and Klawo, as well as Slovak acts including IMT Smile, Tamara Kramar and the international group Tolstoys, along with Ari Tsugi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the organizers are giving additional talent the chance to gain visibility by performing on one of the festival stages \u2013 the REC. Stage, located directly beneath the iconic Bolt Tower. In collaboration with Polish radio Eska Rock and the Slovak cultural platform Hudba.sk, the competition is now open to all interested artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No prior experience with large festival performances is required to enter. There are no genre restrictions either. It\u2019s truly about talent \u2013 and a bit of luck. Following the open calls (in Poland until May 10, in Slovakia until May 14), a public vote will take place, involving both expert juries and fans. Ultimately, one winner from each country will be selected. In addition to the opportunity to perform at Colours of Ostrava, winners will receive a fee of \u20ac500, artist accreditation, and accommodation (for bands, this includes all members plus one technician).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry requirements are simple \u2013 just fill out a form with basic information about your project and include links to your music recordings or videos (for Slovakia here<\/a>, for Poland here<\/a>). From all correctly registered artists, a shortlist of ten talents will be selected after the application phase closes. The public will then have just under two weeks to support their favourites. The four acts with the highest number of votes from each country will move on to the final round judged by an expert panel. The jury will primarily evaluate the artists\u2019 potential to engage festival audiences, as well as their prospects within the music industry \u2013 such as their chances of succeeding on streaming platforms or in radio airplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
