A funny and at the same time moving ride inspired by a true friendship that won three Oscars – including one the Best Film of the Year.

The former bouncer and petty crook Tony "Lip" Vallelonga has a reputation of a guy capable of solving any problem among New York's Italian community. That is why the famous black pianist Dr Don Shirley hires him as driver and bodyguard for his tour of the wild states of the American South in the 1960s. Tony is hot-blooded, not highly educated, but very cunning. He loves his wife and fried chicken more than anything else. Dr Don is a cultured genius of subtle morals and firm principles. To overcome pitfalls together they have to find their way through prejudice and humorous mishaps.
