“We have been so much devoured by the age of information that anything linked to the 'invisible' fascinates.”

He travels around the world in quest of sounds, from stadium rock music to rare shamanic rituals, from experimentations in electronics to accapella village songs.

Vincent is an independent filmmaker, photographer and sound artist who explores links between ancient and new forms of ceremonies. He is known for traveling around the globe with a camera in his backpack, documenting local folklores, sacred music and religious rituals.

He grew up in Paris as Mathieu Saura, and studied photography for 3 years at the Atelier Reflexe in Montreuil. In 2003, he started his photography blog Les Nuits de Fiume, documenting Parisian nightlife. Two years later, Vincent started to move toward films. So far, he has made hundreds of them. He mainly works on donations, and shares much of his work, films and music recordings, for free on internet. He is the author of a huge collection of videos for his label Collection Petites Planètes on the sacred, trance and altered states of consciousness. By documenting rituals and ceremonies, he shows fascination by how people deal with the invisible in their culture, or higher forces. It’s very important to him to go back to ancient wisdom of indigenous people. He tries to capture and highlight the element of mystery in our reality.

Vincent was also the main director of a web-based project The Take Away Shows (2006–2009). It was a series of improvised outdoor video sessions with musicians, set in unexpected locations and broadcast freely on the web. In four years, the team managed to shoot over two hundred videos with bands like REM, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Tom Jones, Beirut, Grizzly Bear, and Sigur Ros and many more.
