Head Programmer of Colours of Ostrava Wins Prestigious European Award

On Wednesday, January 15, the European Festival Awards were presented during one of the largest music showcases in Europe. For the umpteenth time, Colours of Ostrava received a nomination for Best Major Festival. This year, the festival’s second nomination was turned into a win by Filip Košťálek, who became the first-ever recipient of the New Kid On The Block award, recognizing his outstanding contribution as the festival's head programmer.

In August of last year, Filip Košťálek was also named one of the New Bosses by the IQ Magazine, a prestigious title for music professionals worldwide. He has continued this success by winning at the European Festival Awards, making him the only Czech representative to transform a nomination into an award. "I honestly didn’t expect this. Considering the three amazing colleagues nominated alongside me, I gave myself very little chance of winning," says Košťálek. "This award is for the entire team behind the festival. Without my colleagues, I would never have reached this position. I also see it as a big thank you to the fans and visitors who believe in us and keep pushing us forward. I believe we can make the most of this joy and use it as a huge motivation to bring you even better experiences."

The New Kid On The Block award is given to young music professionals under the age of 30, highlighting talented individuals in music production, curation, marketing, fundraising, and management. Colours of Ostrava is one of the largest music events in the Czech Republic and, along with other major European festivals such as Primavera, Rock Werchter, and Electric Castle, it is recognized as one of the leading major festivals. This year, the Polish festival Open'er won the Best Major Festival category, while Colours of Ostrava has placed in the TOP 10 for three consecutive years.
