Fat Dog

United Kingdom

Another band from London's seemingly endless hatchery and the biggest discovery of 2024 you don't know about yet. The Fat Dog five-piece continue to ADHD produce the scene around the Windmill club, the bands there aren't shy about mixing almost anything that passes them by. On their two released singles, Fat Dog combine electropunk, pop, EBM and klezmer, citing the music from the video game Serious Sam as one of their main inspirations. Seriously. Their concerts are described as eruptions of energy, intensity and chaos. An apocalyptic dance party at the end of the last day of the festival.

The hype around bands from South London was raised by the likes of Black Midi, Squid and Black Country, New Road around five years ago, and since then several more names have been popping up regularly every year to repeat their success. Fat Dog are even more genre-busting and wilder than the aforementioned bands, and their trajectory is so steep it's breathless. They've barely got two singles out, but they've already played with the likes of Viagra Boys, Shame and Yard Act, and their forthcoming LP, due out this September on the Domino label, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, according to UK magazine DIY. This may be the gig you'll one day tell the story of being there when nobody knew Fat Dog.
